Since starting my job a year ago, I’ve had little time to spare on my own personal projects. When I do have time, day to day tasks have taken precedence. In the end, I’m left feeling too tired to get much done. So naturally, blogging has been the last thing on my mind.

I want to get back into regularly updating, but I feel like I need some sort of central theme to focus on. Therefore I’ve decided to start writing about my personal goals on here. My personal goals are usually things I keep hidden in diaries or locked away in my phone. But I’ve decided its high time to start documenting them in a public space (or to the small handful that might stumble here).

My primary goal is to significantly increase my creative output. I’ve been struggling for a while to maintain this goal, often I find myself either uninspired or unmotivated. Some things I’ve thought I would always be doing, I no longer do much of. My intrinsic motivation is there, but I feel like I need some new routines to really harness that energy.

So here is my plan to kickstart my creativity.

  1. Exercise everyday. It’s been observed that exercise not only benefits your body, but also your brain. I already do yoga twice a week, but my aim is to be doing at least 30 minutes of exercise a day.
  2. Dedicate one day a week to sit in a space that’s not in my house to work. My home space can be distracting, so making this a weekly ritual will give me a place to really focus on my work.
  3. Practising mindfulness. I’ve been hearing so much about the benefits of mindfulness as a tool both to help relax but also fuel your brain. I believe this will really help me long term.
  4. Join a pottery class. I miss being in a educational environment with other artists, so I’d love to be back in it.
  5. Sleep well.

  1. I definitely want to do more of 2 but I’m finding it really difficult at the moment, it’s such a good technique to relax, when you get it right!
PS number 3 – you can come to mine if you need somewhere to work, we’re due a crafty day soon!
